Mogadishu, 23 June 2026 – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdifatah Kasim Mohamud, today chaired the monthly meeting of the Communication and Media Relations Officers of Federal Government institutions. The meeting was held at the Office of the Prime Minister and focused on strengthening the unification of government messaging, enhancing media relations, and accelerating public awareness initiatives. The meeting placed particular emphasis on preparations and awareness campaigns for the Somali Independence Days, highlighting the importance of ensuring that all government institutions deliver coordinated and unified messages to the public on the values of freedom, patriotism, national unity, and the history of Somalia’s struggle for independence. Mr. Abdinasir Ahmed Bashir, the Director of Communication at the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Spokesperson, briefed participants on the significance of the meeting and its role in strengthening cooperation and coordination among the Communication and Media Relations Offices across government institutions. He underscored the importance of ensuring unified, transparent, and effective government communication that reaches the Somali public in a timely and impactful manner. Participants shared views and recommendations on how to further strengthen message coordination, enhance inter-agency communication cooperation, improve information sharing, and increase the effectiveness of public awareness campaigns. They emphasized the need for all government institutions to operate under a unified national communication framework. In his closing remarks, Minister Abdifatah Kasim Mohamud urged government institutions to intensify efforts aimed at raising public awareness, promoting patriotism, strengthening national unity, and commemorating the Somali Independence Days currently being observed across the country. The Minister also highlighted the importance of preserving, promoting, and utilizing the Somali language, as well as respecting and safeguarding national symbols in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia. He noted that language, culture, and national symbols are fundamental pillars of Somalia’s identity and unity. Finally, the Minister stressed the importance of unity among government institutions and the Somali people in defending national interests, safeguarding social cohesion, and countering any attempts aimed at undermining the unity, stability, and collective aspirations of the Somali nation.
