Chinese Government sends congratulation to Somalia on Independence Days

Peoples’ Republic of China extended warm congratulation to Somalia on the 60th anniversary of Independence Days, June 26 and July 1st ahead, and expressed solidarity, SONNA reported Sunday.

July 1st this year marks the 60th anniversary of Somalia’s independence. Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping wrote to Somali President H.E. Mohammed, on behalf of the Chinese government and people to extend warm congratulations to the brotherly Somali government and people, and sincere greetings and good wishes”, Said a statement from Chinese Embassy in Mogadishu.

“Under the leadership of the Somali government, the Somali people will eventually be able to overcome COVID-19, Somalia will develop the better and better, this is an inevitable trend of historical development”, said the Statement.

China will support Somalia as always, will show solidarity and cooperate with the Somali government and people and work together to promote the greater development of bilateral relations according to the Embassy.

Somalia and China forged their friendly and diplomatic relations on December 14, 1960.

Under the friendship and brotherhood between Chinese and Somalia, the counties help each other at time of difficult. Somalia supported China to gain legal seat from United Nations.

Chinese Government carried out over 80 development projects in Somalia from 1960 until 1991. Benadir hospital for mothers and Children, Stadium Mogadishu and the National Theater are among those key projects.

Some of these institutions were refurbished through Self-Help Program(Is-Xilqaan) in recent.
