Federal Government of Somalia’s Weekly Briefing Mogadishu, Friday, 16th May, 2025

  1. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended the Somali Youth Day celebration on May 15, which marked the 82nd anniversary of the founding of the Somali Youth League (SYL).
  2. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has laid the foundation stone for the new building that will house the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
  3. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended the funeral prayers of the late Ugas Abdullahi Ugas Farah, one of the country’s prominent traditional elders.
  4. Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre received the Ambassador of Qatar to Somalia, Dr Abdullah Bin Salem Al Nuaimi, and discussed strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries.
