SOMALI MINISTER OF INFORMATION PARTICIPATES IN AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CULTURE AND DIPLOMACY IN RUSSIA

ST PETERSBURG, 12 September 2025: The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Daud Aweys Jama, along with a delegation he led, participated in the 11th session of the International Cultural Forum held in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

This conference, attended by delegations from more than 70 countries and international organizations, focused on the utilization of culture and diplomacy to strengthen cooperation and global peace.

In his speech, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, H.E. Daud Aweys Jama, stated that culture is a diplomatic tool that enhances connections among the world’s diverse societies, with respect for each nation’s cultural identity. He emphasized that in a time when the world faces multiple challenges, culture can serve as the unifying language that bridges the diverse ideas present globally.

Other leaders participating in the conference also highlighted the necessity of saving the world from new conflicts and confrontations by emphasizing the importance of diverse cultures, creating equal opportunities that promote global peace, and collectively working to replace ongoing wars and disputes with peace, coexistence, and cooperation.

Additionally, Minister H.E Daud Aweys Jama held bilateral meetings with several leaders attending the forum, during which they discussed strengthening cooperation in the development of Somali culture with their respective countries.
