Federal Government of Somalia’s Weekly Briefing Mogadishu, Wednesday, 13 September, 2023

1- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud returned to Dhusamareb after visiting Adan Yabal District in the Middle Shabelle Region, where he met with the leaders of the National Armed Forces and the community to strengthen the country’s plan to eliminate the Kharijites Al Shabaab.

2- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held meetings with politicians, intellectuals and traditional elders in Mahaas District of Hiran region, agreeing to unite in the fight to eliminate the Kharijites Al Shabab.

3- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre and the delegation he led returned to the country, after an official visit to Qatar, where he held meetings with some of the country’s officials.

4- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, held a meeting in Doha with the Commander of the Armed Forces of Qatar, Salem bin Hamad Al Nabit, and discussed cooperation in the field of security and fighting the Kharijites Al Shabab.

5- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, had a fruitful meeting with the leadership and senior members of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Doha.

6- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre met with officials of the Somali National Army in Doha, Qatar, who are undergoing a training in Qatar.

7- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre has said that anything that would compromise the noble struggle to rid the country of the Kharijites Al Shabab enemy will not be accepted.

8- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre launched projects for the vaccination of the COVID-19 infection.

9- Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama and his Ethiopian counterpart, Mr. Dekeme Mekonnen Hassan chaired a meeting where the two countries signed an agreement on trade cooperation.

10- The Somali Cabiner has discussed the security situation in the country, with the approval of agreements and understandings that the government of Somalia entered into with Ethiopia and Turkey

11- The government of Somalia has announced that the National Army has killed more than 60 members of the Kharijites Al Shabab in an operation that took place in Awdheegle district in the Lower Shabelle Region.

12- The Commander of the National Army, General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadeen, visited Awdheegle district in the Lower Shabelle region and promised promotion to the forces that thwarted the attack by the militants of Kharijites Al Shabab.

13- Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament, Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, praised the defeat of the Kharijites Al Shabab militants in Aw-Dheegle.

14- Somalia’s Minister of Finance Mr. Bihi Iman Cige held a meeting on financial development and economic reform with Qatar’s Finance Minister Mr. Ali Bin Ahmed.

15- Somalia’s Minister of State for Defense, Abdinur Dahir Fidow, has attended the closing ceremony of military training for the Gorgor Unit of the Somali National Army that took place in Mogadishu.

16- The Somali National Army and local forces have taken over the town of Eel Garas in the Galgudud region.

17- The President of Galmudug State, Ahmed Abdi Kariye, the Minister of Defense of Somalia, Abdulkadir Mohamed Noor and the Chief of Intelligence, Mahad Mohamed Salad visited the town of El Garas, which was recently liberated from Al Shabab.

18- The Somali National Army has liberated El-La Helay area and other villages from Al Shabab Kharijites in Galmudug.

19- A woman and two children were killed in an explosion that Kharijites Al Shabab militants planted in a civilian house in El La Helay area.

20- The President of Hirshabelle State, Ali Gudlawe Hussein, went to areas under Aden Yabal and Ruunirgood to encourage the Armed Forces in the fight against the Kharijites Al Shabab.

21- The security forces of the South West State have arrested a Kharijite Al Al Shabab conspirator named Omar Mohamed Ismail who was planning to leave Baidoa airport in a secret way.

22- The Somali National Army has killed 20 members of Kharijites Al-Shabaab in an operation in Barag Ali Gadud area under Harardhere district of Mudug region.

23- The Governor of Banadir region inspected the security checkpoints in the capital.

24- The Minister of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation Mr. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi visited the Gorgor command of the Somali National Army in Harar Dhere district.

25- The Deputy Minister of Information of Somalia, Abdirahman Yusuf, said that the last operations of the national army and local heroes carried out in Galmudug killed more than 120 members of the Kharijites Al-Shabaab.

26- The Minister of Trade of Somalia MP Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi, has delivered a donation of rations to support the national army in the war against the Kharijites Al Shabab.

27- The security forces of Bardale city in the Bay region killed Abdi Salad, who was leading a group of Kharijitesl Al Shabab who launched an ambush on the area.

28- The Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Hassan Adan, who spoke to some community leaders, called for the elimination of the Kharijites groups that are still fighting in the Galmudug areas.

29- The Somali National Army has this week achieved consecutive victories in the fight against Al Shabab in Galmudug.
