Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Congratulates Somali Artists on World Art Day

Mogadishu, 15 April 2026: The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Daud Aweis Jama, extended his congratulations to Somali artists on the occasion of World Art Day, observed on April 15 each year. The Day was designated by UNESCO in 2019 to promote awareness of the importance of artistic creativity worldwide. The Minister highlighted the vital role of the arts in preserving cultural heritage and fostering youth creativity.

The Minister noted that the arts represent a key pillar in building an informed, cohesive, and forward-looking society. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting and promoting Somali artists, particularly young creatives whose talent contributes to national identity and cultural development.

On this occasion, the Minister awarded a Certificate of Recognition to Somali artist Abdinasir Abdulkadir Mohamed, who achieved success in the East African Community (EAC) Youth Creative Competition. His achievement reflects the growing capacity and international competitiveness of Somali youth in regional and global creative platforms. 🌍

In conclusion, the Minister encouraged Somali youth to continue strengthening their creativity and to take advantage of opportunities provided by regional and international programs that support the development of arts and culture.
